Yes, it is very enjoyable to visit big cities. But wouldn’t you like to make some day trips and see the unknown beauties in Poland while you were there?

1. Wroclaw

If you have gone all way to Wroclaw, I think there are places you need to go a little further and see.

Książ Castle in Wałbrzych

I don’t know how to read the name, but the castle is really beautiful. Its interior is again a museum. Since I don’t like to visit museums much, I didn’t get inside, but you can go hiking around and take very beautiful photos from the viewing point.

About 1 hour to Wroclaw.

Peace Church in Świdnicy

The special feature of this church is that it is made entirely of wood. The structure, which looks quite simple from the outside, contains decorations that is hard to believe that it is wooden. I could not believe what I had read before and asked the official again, he confirmed that everything is 100% wood. With this feature, like a few similar churches in this region, it is on the Unesco World Heritage List.

I think it’s definitely a place to be seen. There are several similar churches in this area, but this is the largest one. About an hour to Wroclaw. You can visit both Książ Castle and this church with a day trip, they are very close.

Karpacz

This is a nature sports area. It is very popular among ski lovers in winter, but different activities are held in other seasons. Unfortunately I could not spare time here, both because season was not suitable and my time was limited. Since it is still on my to-do list, I share it for information 🙂 About 2 hours to Wroclaw.

2. Krakow

Krakow is already beautiful on its own, but there are definitely some very impressive places around it.

Auschwitz concentration camp

This is my reason for planning the Poland trip. It is a must-see place for recent history lovers, but the feelings it gives are very heavy. Therefore, it may not be suitable for everyone.

You can read the details in my Auschwitz post.

Zakopane

This place is also an indispensable place for nature lovers. I did the tour of Poland in March, which is one of the most unsuitable months for nature sports in my point of view, so I didn’t stop here, but one day I will definitely go 🙂

Zakopane is a very popular region not only for Poles but also among Europeans. For this reason, it is said to be very crowded almost always. My Polish friends that I work with warned me that the best season is autumn. Noted 🙂

If you have limited time for natural beauty, Zakopane is a few steps ahead in my eyes, just for your information:) This region is about 2 hours from Krakow.

Zalipie

This is a small Polish village, which you probably have seen on the social media with its houses decorated with flower paintings all over. Again, it is one of the places I could not find time to stop by. About 1.5 hours to Krakow.

3. Gdansk

Gdansk, as I have already mentioned in my post, is a city that stole my heart. But there are many places to see around also.

Malbork Castle

This castle in Malbork has the largest surface area in the world. Built in the 13th century, the castle has been restored twice. You only learn this information when you search in detail, for example I learned it on site J So it was a little disappointing, but I saw it at the end 🙂

The main building of the castle is not very big. After visiting, I said “how can it be the biggest?”, but then I remembered that the surface area was the biggest. Another misinterpretation 🙂 You can see how large the area it covers from the opposite side of the river when you look at the walls. It’s really big:)

This is again under Unesco protection and 45 minutes from Gdansk.

Stutthof concentration camp

I don’t know how impressive it will be after Auschwitz, but it is another historical embarrassment that you may see if your path fell not to Krakow or Wroclaw but to Gdansk. About 40 minutes to Gdansk.

Sopot

The second of the cities known as the Baltic Trio is Sopot (The first is Gdansk). This is a very pleasant city to visit. It is actually a famous summer holiday region with its long, wide beach and hotels lined up behind this beach. So, it is said to be very active in summer. It is also said that many celebrities have a holiday here. I don’t know, but when I saw the famous hotel chains on the beach, it didn’t seem so unlikely 🙂

Fortunately, we were able to visit it in March. In this rather small city, there is a crooked building that I see on the internet and question its reality. Photo below 🙂 Actually it is a shopping center but it is sure that it attracts touristic attention with its interesting exterior.

On the beach, there is a long pier as well as hotels. You can go to the end and enjoy the view of the Baltic Sea. Entrance is paid in high season.

Sopot is 15 minutes away from Gdansk.

Gdynia

And the last city of the Baltic Trio is Gdynia. Our guide in Gdansk praised this place so I wanted to stop by while passing by but I think there is no need, I couldn’t understand why so much praise 🙂

The aquarium here is said to be quite beautiful, I have no further comments 🙂

30 minutes from Gdansk and 15 minutes from Sopot.

With this article, I think I came to the end of my Poland series. I hope you enjoyed reading it. See you in new countries 🙂
